The Ottawa Branch is one of 35 Branches and SIGs (special interest groups) of the Ontario Genealogical Society (OGS), also known as Ontario Ancestors. Ottawa Branch is “responsible” for Carleton, Lanark, Renfrew, Prescott and Russell Counties in Ontario. The Branch consists of members who seek and share information about family history researching. Our mission is “To encourage, assist and bring together all those interested in the pursuit of family history.” If you want to discover more about your family origins, or how and where to locate information about your ancestors, our 300 members will be there to help you: to dig up family roots; to prove family traditions and legends; to learn of the times in which our ancestors lived; to find out about their struggles and progress as they carved out a new life for themselves; and to gain a better image of our ancestors. Our members find this an interesting and pleasurable pastime in which we learn, share and help others. We can help to “grow” your family trees and to discover new “branches.” We warmly welcome you as a guest at one of our monthly presentations. Membership in the Ottawa Branch provides you with all issues of the The Ottawa Genealogist published during the year.
