Wickham had brought the bull to his farm only the day before. It is reported he had been warned it might become vicious. When Wickham went into the farm yard last evening the bull charged him. He cried for help. His daughter and wife fought heroically and themselves miracuously escaped injury. Wickham died a half hour after being dragged out of the yard, while the bull was kept at bay with the pitchfork.      Phillip Byron Conner was born on 29 June 1885 at Auburn Township, Fayette County, Iowa, USA, son of Joseph Conner and Elizabeth Mischler.1,4,5 He and Maud Luella Nims obtained a marriage license at Fayette County, Iowa, USA.6 Phillip Byron Conner married Maud Luella Nims, daughter of Henry W Nims and Harriett D Finch, on 29 January 1916 at West Union City, Fayette County, Iowa, USA.7,8,9 Phillip Byron Conner was a farmer at Hawkeye, Fayette County, Iowa, USA, in 1916.9 He was a farmer working for himself at RR #3, West Union, Fayette County, Iowa, USA, on 12 September 1918.1 He and Maud Luella Nims lived at RR #3, West Union, Fayette County, Iowa, USA, on 12 September 1918.1 Phillip Byron Conner was listed as the Head of the Household in the 1920 US Federal Census for Bethel Township, Fayette County, Iowa, USA. The household included Maud Luella Conner, Raymond Everett Conner and Joseph Henry Conner.10
