     Lt Norman Morley Cowell DCM was born on 28 August 1887 at Ontario, Canada, s/o Jabez Covell.2 He was born on 28 August 1888 at Fruitland, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada, s/o Jabez Ransom Covell.3,4,2 He was listed as the son of Jabez Covell in the 1901 Canadian Census for Fruitland, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada.5 Lt Norman Morley Cowell DCM enlisted as a private on 12 August 1914.3 He was promoted to Temporary Lieutenant in the 14th Battalion on 21 February 1917. He served in Canada, England and France with the 5th Battn, 32nd Battn, Can Army Service Corps Training Depot, att'd Can Ordnance Travelling Workshop, 14th Battn, Quebec Regt'l Depot and District Depot #4.3 He married Nursing Sister Anna Beatrice Kilborn, daughter of Allan Grant Kilborn and Sarah Edith Buchan, on 2 April 1919 at London, England.1,6 Lt Norman Morley Cowell DCM was demobilized on 22 April 1919.3 He was listed as the Head of the Household in the 1921 Canadian Census for 29 Taylor Ave, St Catharines, Ontario, Canada. The household included Anna Beatrice Cowell.2
