He grew to manhood in this vicinity. While yet in his teens he took up the occupation of railroading. His sunny disposition when a youth gave him the nickname of “Happy” which followed him through life. In 1914 he was married to Mary E. Harrison, after which they moved to Kansas City, Missouri. They remained there until 1931 when his health failed and he could not continue his railroad work. In May 1931 they moved back to Wheaton where they have since resided.

On June 26, 1934 he was baptized in the Catholic Religion by the Rev. G. F. Hart and died fortified by the last sacraments of his new found faith.

The funeral was held at St. Michael’s church, Monday morning in the presence of a host of life long friends that filled the church to its capacity. Burial was in the family lot in St. Michael’s cemetery. He leaves to mourn, his wife, and a host of friends and relatives.³
